Question: Who or what are the disruptors that have your attention? Why?
Katherine Grichnik: Hospital partnerships, mergers and acquisitions across the country [are key disruptors right now]. Who is big enough, as a healthcare system, to survive the changes in healthcare: consumer and value-driven with a move from inpatient to ambulatory settings.
Q: What did you notice about your healthcare experience the last time you were at the receiving end as a patient?
KG: Efficiency and communication, including being able to get what I want — information, appointment, directions, procedures — when I call or book online.
Q: How do you define patient engagement?
KG: [Patient engagement is] informed collaborative decision making and bilateral information exchange.
