The 12,000-square-foot, $5 million ICU will be the largest expansion at the hospital since its cancer center opened in 2004, and it will increase critical care patient rooms from seven to eight and add four acuity adaptable beds known as universal patient care rooms.

The J. Doswell Dutton Family Care Center will be funded by $100,000 from the bequest J. Doswell Dutton left to the hospital in 2009 and by $100,000 raised through a capital campaign. The 900-square-foot family care center will provide space for family and friends of patients requiring extended stays at the hospital and will include a kitchenette, full bathroom, private consultation room and other amenities.
