The 102 hospitals in Arizona directly employed nearly 80,000 FTE (full-time equivalent) personnel across the state and supported over 93,600 FTE jobs in 2009, including those employed in other industries but whose jobs depend on economic activity created by hospitals.
Including both wages and benefits, hospital personnel received over $6 billion in direct employee compensation. The total employee compensation supported by the hospital industry in the state was nearly $10 billion.
