Mr. Bryant is one of the 20 plaintiffs  in a suit against the federal government that deemed the ACA unconstitutional. According to sources who have spoken to Mr. Bryant and his staff, his administration has spoken with healthcare industry executives about a limited form of Medicaid expansion similar to the plan implemented in Indiana in 2015.

In the last four months, four rural Mississippi hospitals have declared bankruptcy, and five hospitals in the state have closed since 2010. Officials from Mr. Bryant’s administration downplayed their role in expansion talks to Mississippi Today, instead saying the Mississippi Hospital Association is pushing the dialogue.
