AnMed Health lays off 94 employees

Anderson, S.C.-based AnMed Health cut 159 positions, the health system confirmed to the Independent Mail.

The cuts include 94 layoffs, or about 4 percent of the organization's workforce, as well as eliminating 65 vacant positions. Employees affected by the layoffs include lab techniciansm security personnel and workers in radiology, among others, according to the report.

The health system cited various factors for the cuts, including investment in an Epic EHR.

"Several industry trends, including reimbursement declines, softer volumes, and the cost of necessary investments in technology, have resulted in a budgeted loss on operations this year, which is not sustainable," AnMed Health said in a statement to the Independent Mail.

Affected employees have the opportunity to apply for other jobs, according to the Independent Mail. AnMed also added it is seeking nurses.
