American Well will combine Aligned Telehealth’s network of clinical experts with its digital care delivery platform to help hospitals and health plans combat challenges of clinician shortages, fragmented care and social stigmas toward behavioral health access and treatment.
Through the acquisition, American Well customers will gain access to Aligned Telehealth’s behavioral health and psychiatry telehealth programs. Aligned Telehealth has worked with various hospitals and health plans, including San Francisco-based Dignity Health and Irving, Texas-based Christus Health.
“The increased utilization of telehealth is re-shaping the healthcare landscape and there is no area that has been more affected than behavioral health,” said Jason Close, director of Dignity Health’s telemedicine network, according to the news release.
