The report, Workforce 2015: Strategy Trumps Shortage, notes that hospitals will also need to retain and recruit a new generation of workers as well as involve leadership that is ready to lead change and engage in innovative procedures.

The report also suggests that hospitals work with educators to update traditional degree programs for healthcare workers and work with managers to address the needs of a multi-generational workforce. This includes increased teamwork across the scope of care and working with patients and their families to maximize efficiency with a smaller workforce.
