Adventist hospital lays off 16 employees: 3 things to know

Feather River Hospital in Paradise, Calif., part of Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health, has laid off 16 employees to cut costs, according to a KHSL-TV report.

Here are three things to know.

1. The layoffs affected 16 employees out of the hospital's workforce of about 1,100.

2. The hospital implemented the layoffs as a cost-cutting measure, and "this was enough to focus on our progress and goals for the future," Maureen Wisener, Feather River Hospital's vice president for marketing and communications, told KHSL-TV.

She said, "This is a really difficult decision for any organization, and particularly for our small community organization. It is not an easy decision. A lot of careful thought and diligent effort went into what is the right thing to help make sure that healthcare is on the ridge for this community."

3. Hospital officials worked as best they could to provide laid-off employees with severance packages and unemployment benefits, Ms Wisener added in the report.
