The campaign targets Republican senators in Iowa, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, Colorado, Alaska and Nevada. Senators in these states range from centrists to staunch conservatives, all of whom depend on reliable senior voters to support their candidacies. AARP has said that it believes passage of the AHCA will disproportionately harm seniors, who will see healthcare costs soar under the bill as it is currently written.
There has been division among GOP senators about when the bill will be completed, though there have been reports that a draft will soon be sent to the Congressional Budget Office for review and evaluation.
