One of the physicians — Richard Hill, MD, a family medicine physician at Beaver Medical Group — discussed his frustrations with SGMH leadership in an op-ed for the Record-Gazette.
Dr. Hill said the physicians, many of whom see patients at the SGMH, demand a change because SGMH executives “[ignore] the most serious concerns” expressed by the physicians.
He alleges several hospital administrators “continue to interfere with Beaver patients …[and have] re-directed [patients] to non-Beaver doctors when they visit [the hospital],” according to the report. Dr. Hill claims Beaver Medical Group physicians received complaints that hospital administrators allegedly attempted to lure patients to join a competing medical group the hospital is attempting to set up.
Dr. Hill suggests hospital administrators also “refuse[d] to cooperate in a formal investigation” conducted by Redlands, Calif.-based Epic Management –– a physician consulting and management organization –– more than two months ago despite clear provisions requiring the organization’s cooperation.
“On behalf of [the] 75 Beaver doctors, we need a fresh, collaborative approach that fosters collegiality, transparency and accountability by a new group of San [Gorgonio] administrators –– one that allows us to deliver the care our patients deserve within their own community. We won’t settle for anything less nor should Banning and Beaumont residents,” Dr. Hill said.
