According to the news report, hospital officials said the revenue increase principally stems from increased patient admissions to the health system’s emergency department. This fiscal year’s total revenue gives the health system nearly $13 million surplus over budgeted expenses. Also, up until May 2011, the health system’s operating margin increased nearly two-fold what officials budgeted for ending the fiscal year.
