5 recent healthcare layoffs

The following healthcare layoffs were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in July:

1. Florida hospital lays off employees
Venice (Fla.) Regional Bayfront Health has reduced its workforce, hospital officials confirmed to the Venice Gondolier Sun. The officials did not disclose the number of layoffs.

2. PeaceHealth lays off 50 employees
Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth laid off 50 employees at several locations, a spokesperson confirmed to The Register-Guard. The layoffs affect the health system's technology solutions partners division.

3. New Jersey drugmaker to cut 220 New York jobs
Amneal Pharmaceuticals, a generic drugmaker based in New Jersey's Bridgewater Township, will close its factory in Hauppauge, N.Y., next year, affecting 220 jobs.

4. Acer Therapeutics cuts 60% of staff
Acer Therapeutics, a rare-disease drugmaker, cut 60 percent of its workforce two weeks after the FDA refused to approve its lead drug candidate Edsivo for a rare connective tissue disorder.

5. Wisconsin health system to outsource IT jobs, lay off 46 employees
Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System is outsourcing some of its IT jobs at health centers in the state to Ciox.
