5 recent healthcare layoffs

The following healthcare layoffs have been reported by Becker's Hospital Review since Jan. 4.

1. Samaritan Health Services, a nonprofit, integrated delivery system based in Corvallis, Ore., laid off dozens of workers from its home healthcare and hospice services departments.

2. St. Joseph Hospital, Eureka (Calif.) laid off two radiology technician assistants.

3. Arlington-based Texas Health Resources is laying off about 720 employees, about 3 percent of its workforce.

4. Pharmedium, AmerisourceBergen's troubled compounding unit, will lay off 225 workers at its Memphis, Tenn., facility by March 12.

5. Columbia, S.C.-based Palmetto Health eliminated 140 positions in the organization to reduce expenses and improve operational efficiencies.
