5 leaders influencing Amazon’s health push

Amazon has hired top-tier leaders to oversee its push into healthcare, according to STAT.

Here are five Amazon healthcare strategy influencers to know:

1. Taha Kass-Hout, MD, senior leader of healthcare and artificial intelligence at Amazon. Dr. Kass-Hout was formerly a chief informatics officer at the FDA. At Amazon, he is leading the efforts to develop AI products for the medical field.

2. Missy Krasner, head of strategic partnerships at Alexa Health and Wellness. Ms. Krasner has been a key player in expanding the use of Amazon’s Alexa in healthcare. She is responsible for forming partnerships and finding health systems to pilot using Alexa to securely receive and transmit protected health information.

3. Shez Partovi, MD, director of global business development for healthcare, life sciences and genomics. At Amazon, Dr. Partovi helps healthcare organizations manage and analyze data using Amazon software tools. Some of the customers he works with include Amgen, Philips Healthcare and the American Heart Association.

4. Matt Wood, MD, PhD, general manager of deep learning and AI at Amazon Web Services. Dr. Wood, who started at Amazon in 2015,  has developed several new services for customers of Amazon Web Service,the e-commerce giant’s cloud platform.  Dr. Wood has a PhD in machine learning and bioinformatics.

5. Chris Holt, global leader of healthcare for Amazon Business,the business-to-business unit of the company. Mr. Holt is responsible for expanding the sale of medical supplies to hospitals.
