More than 1,600 companies participated in DiversityInc’s survey in 2015. DiversityInc’s diversity survey leads to a detailed, empirically-driven ranking. It assesses performance based on the following four key areas of diversity management:
- Talent pipeline: Workforce breakdown, recruitment and diameter of existing talent
- Equitable talent development: Employee resource groups, mentoring, philanthropy and fairness
- CEO/leadership commitment: Accountability for results, personal communication and visibility
- Supplier diversity: Spend with companies owned by people from underrepresented groups, accountability and support

No. 1 — Henry Ford Health System (Detroit)
No. 2 — Cleveland Clinic
No. 3 — Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.)
No. 4 — North Shore–LIJ Health System (Great Neck, N.Y.)
No. 5 — Mount Sinai Health System (New York)
Additionally, in The DiversityInc Top 50 List, which evaluates companies across all industries, Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente was ranked No. 2, Anthem was named No. 23 and Aetna was named No. 32.
