Here are the three keys for staying mindful and present in all your interactions with employees.
1. Plan for presence. Don’t just consider mindfulness or presence as a vague state of mind. Instead, set time aside in your day to work on developing this mindset.
2. Do less and be more. Sometimes when employees come to leaders with a problem, they don’t necessarily need an answer but just want to be heard. Create a safe space of mindful presence where employees feel that they are not being rushed out but actually heard.
3. Practice embodied presence. An important step for ensuring mindful presence is taking five minutes to get in tune with your body. Connect with all your senses and ground yourself physically. This brief meditation will not only help you carry yourself more confidently but can help you feel more present in the moment.
