3 steps for creating an ownership mentality within your organization

One reason employees often do not have the same passion for their organization as their leaders is because they do not have a personal stake in that organization. That’s why many leaders look to cultivate an ownership mentality amongst their employees, according to Chief Executive.

Here are three steps leaders can take to encourage this ownership mentality.

1. Generate ideas and buzz with your employees. Try to think from an employee’s standpoint and consider what new actions might encourage them to feel more ownership in the organization. Include your employees on this process, which in itself will increase their ownership.

2. Make it public. Formally announce the plan to your company, and don’t be afraid to take feedback during this step as well.

3. Implement your plan and follow through. Institute programs such as learning lunches that allow you to work through this plan with employees and monitor whether or not it is succeeding or needs to be tweaked.
