Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., were never vocal supporters of the bill, but cemented their position against the GOP policy Tuesday. Mr. Portman and Ms. Capito both represent states that have been hit hard by the opioid crisis and have benefitted from expanded Medicaid coverage.
“I continue to have real concerns about the Medicaid policies in this bill, especially those that impact drug treatment at a time when Ohio is facing an opioid epidemic,” Mr. Portman and Ms. Moore said in a joint statement.
