3 keys to overcoming the mental obstacles of leadership

Though leaders may face several mental roadblocks in their attempts to manage organizations and guide them to success, Ross Tsakas, cofounder of the leadership coaching firm Founders Portal, outlined three keys to overcoming these obstacles in a recent Forbes op-ed.

Below is the list of Mr. Tsakas’ top three keys to overcoming the mental hurdles of leadership.

  1. Put things into perspective whenever you encounter a stressful situation and take a step back to see how a minor setback is not the end of the world.
  2. Develop expertise in your field, for fear of the unknown is a huge source of stress and anxiety. You will second guess yourself and those around you less if you are confident in your knowledge of a given subject.
  3. Have people you can confide in about different issues. Deciding what to share with who is vitally important, as you want the people you trust to be able to give you helpful advice in addition to an attentive ear.
