The layoffs affected 23 current employees; eight open positions will not be filled. Departments affected include nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy and seven other clinical and non-clinical units.
The county-operated system lost $6.6 million in 2010 and approximately $1 million in 2011. Additional changes are needed to keep the hospital viable, said CEO Donald Eichenauer, who took over the top post at the hospital earlier this month, according to the report.
