Texas' Covenant Health Names Dr. Craig Rhyne CMO

Craig Rhyne, MD, FACS, was named CMO for Lubbock, Texas-based Covenant Health System, a member of St. Joseph Health System in Orange, Calif., according to a hospital news release.

Dr. Rhyne most recently served as trauma medical director at Covenant and has also practiced medicine in Lubbock since 1991. He replaces Scott Robins, MD, who left to take a position as CMO of Irving-based HCA North Texas Division.

He will be responsible for building relationships with the medical staff, local physicians and regional physicians; improving clinical and patient safety outcomes; and acting as liaison between the organized medical staff, administration and utilization management and quality assurance programs.

Dr. Rhyne has served on several boards, including chairing the Trauma Peer Review Committee and the Trauma Section Committee, and has received many awards, such as the 1990 Clinical Teaching Award for outstanding clinical instruction at a Texas Tech University Health Science Center.
