Oakland Children’s Plans $450M Expansion and Remodel

Oakland (Calif.) Children’s Hospital has begun the planning process for a $450 million expansion and remodeling project, which includes the construction of a six-story outpatient facility, according to a report from the San Francisco Business Times.

The hospital has not yet announced a source of funding for the project, which is slated to demolish 8,600 square feet of existing hospital buildings, renovate 86,000 feet of space and construct 97,000 square feet of new facilities.

When completed, the project will expand the hospital’s capacity from 170 to 200 beds and will add about 300 parking spaces.
