Lurie Children's Hospital Partners With Muscular Dystrophy Association

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and the Muscular Dystrophy Association have announced a new clinical partnership to enhance care for children with neuromuscular diseases.

Under the partnership, MDA will open an MDA clinic several days each month at the hospital. "The MDA Clinic complements the Mazza Foundation Neuromuscular Program at Lurie Children's by providing additional funding for a multidisciplinary clinic that offers family-centered care," according to the hospital.

Specialists at the MDA Clinic will include a neurologist, a pulmonologist, an orthopedic surgeon, physical and occupational therapists, a nurse educator, a metabolic bone health pediatric nurse practitioner, a clinical nutritionist, orthotists, the MDA Healthcare Services Coordinator and a social worker.

The affiliation will also give Lurie Children's patients access to MDA's support services and resources, including educational materials, and will allow the hospital to participate in MDA's research and clinical initiatives.
