Carolinas HealthCare System Opens Levine Cancer Institute's Research, Administrative Headquarters

Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System announced the opening of its Levine Cancer Institute's research and administrative headquarters at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Carolinas HealthCare System opened the research and administrative headquarters of its Levine Cancer Institute.The facility includes five new stories, making a total of six, with more than 171,000 square feet of space. The building houses nine cancer clinics, the Blumenthal Infusion Center with more than 80 infusion chairs, teleconference space and a Phase 1 clinical trials unit. The facility also offers palliative care and a family resource center in partnership with the American Cancer Society.

The creation of the institute and building was funded by a $20 million leadership gift from the Leon Levine Foundation.

The Levine Cancer Institute also recently announced its charter member institutions — CHS-affiliated hospitals that are part of CHS' new cancer care network. The member institutions will collaborate on quality, technology, clinical trials, data sharing and review, patient navigation, health disparities and community outreach, according to the release.
