The announcement comes after the hospital’s former CMO, Carl Myers, MD, resigned in August.
Dr. Cannell is a pediatrician who was originally appointed to the hospital’s medical staff in 1969. He has held several leadership positions within YRMC, including chief and vice chief of staff, and most recently worked with YRMC on its pediatric service line, according to the report. He also served in the Arizona State Legislature.
Dr. Cannell earned his MD from the University of Colorado in Denver.
