York Hospital CEO departs

York (Maine) Hospital President and CEO Jud Knox has left his executive position, the hospital board of trustees announced.

"The board recognizes that this is a great loss for the organization and wish him the very best," the announcement said. The board's statement did not elaborate on Mr. Knox's departure.

He joined York Hospital in 1982. During his tenure, the board describes him as "a mission-based, patient-focused and dedicated president."

His contributions "have been steadfast," and "his colleagues recognize him for his commitment to patients, visionary goals and great work ethic. He will be deeply missed," the hospital said.

When asked by seacoastonline.com about the departure decision, York Hospital spokesperson Jody Merrill said it was "mutually agreed upon" between Mr. Knox and the trustees. The hospital does not have information about Mr. Knox's plans, she said.

Seacoastonline.com could not reach Mr. Knox on March 16 for comment.

The board said Robin Labonte, chief financial and operations officer, and Jennifer Cutts, MD, chief medical and quality officer, will serve as interim CEOs.
