Rich Lisitano plans to retire in June as president of Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health’s Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., and Westerley (R.I.) Hospital.
Five things to know:
1. Mr. Lisitano has spent 40 years with the system, including the last three as president of the hospitals, according to a March 2 internal memo shared with Becker’s.
2. Oliver Mayorga, MD, chief medical officer of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, will become interim president.
3. Mr. Lisitano joined Yale New Haven Hospital as assistant director of pharmacy in 1986 and later played a key role in expanding service lines such as urology, neurosciences, oncology and orthopedics.
4. During his tenure, Mr. Lisitano also strengthened clinical and financial performance at the hospitals and brought specialty programs to the region through collaboration with the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven. He also led the execution and integration of Epic across five campuses, the memo said.
5. The two acute care hospitals have a combined 433 beds.
