Cynthia “Cindi” Roth, RN, will retire as president and CEO of the Morgantown-based West Virginia University Foundation in the fall.
Ms. Roth has led the foundation for nearly 13 years, according to a March 16 news release. She joined the organization in January 2014 after serving as associate vice chancellor of institutional advancement at the University of Pittsburgh.
During her tenure, assets managed by the foundation grew from $1.4 billion to $3.7 billion. Annual fundraising increased from more than $100 million to $282.6 million, while annual disbursements from more than 6,000 endowed and non-endowed funds rose from $59 million to more than $120 million, the release said.
Ms. Roth’s leadership was also central to progressing the broader WVU enterprise, including key projects at WVU Medicine such as the establishment of a new children’s hospital and planning for a new cancer hospital.
Ms. Roth is the sixth president of the foundation since its founding in 1954, and her 13-year tenure will be the second longest in the organization’s history. She is the first woman to serve in the role.
