WMCHealth names leader for 3 hospitals

Westchester Medical Center Health Network, a nine-hospital system headquartered in Valhalla, N.Y., has appointed Andrew Pickens, MD, executive director of its western region hospitals, effective June 26. 

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Pickens had been serving in the role on an interim basis since November 2024. He will continue as senior vice president and chief medical officer for WMCHealth’s western region, a position he has held since 2023. 

2. In his expanded role, Dr. Pickens will oversee Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, and Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y., focusing on regional service integration and operational excellence.

3. Before joining WMCHealth, Dr. Pickens served as chief medical officer for HCA in Tampa (Fla.). His career also includes leadership roles with the Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Health System and Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System. 

4. In addition to his medical degree from Saint Louis University, he holds a law degree and MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
