William Roper, MD. CEO of UNC Health Care System (Chapel Hill, N.C.). In addition to serving as CEO of the UNC Health Care System, Dr. Roper is the dean of the School of Medicine, vice chancellor for medical affairs at UNC at Chapel Hill and a professor of health policy and management, pediatrics and social medicine. Before joining UNC in 1997, Dr. Roper was senior vice president of Prudential Financial’s healthcare division, president of the Prudential Center for Health Care Research, director of the CDC and administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration, now known as CMS. Dr. Roper is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, as well as a member of the board of directors at DaVita, Inc., Express Scripts Holding Company and the National Quality Forum. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Colorado Medical Center.
