WellCare appoints president for Hawaii-based health plan

Tampa, Fla.-based WellCare Health Plans named Scott Sivik state president of its Kapolei, Hawaii-based ‘Ohana Health Plan.

Here are four things to know about the appointment.

1. Mr. Sivik has served as the market’s interim president since September 2016.

2. As state president, Mr. Sivik is responsible for ‘Ohana’s Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and managed long-term care businesses. He will oversee provider contracts, sales and marketing, medical management, regulatory compliance and finance.

3. He has almost 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining ‘Ohana, Mr. Sivik held several senior leadership positions with Healthways. He also was director of care management at the Hawaii Medical Service Association and a center executive at Corpus Christi, Texas-based Christus Spohn Hospital South.

4. Mr. Sivik earned his bachelor’s of science from Tampa-based University of South Florida and his master’s of science in education from Waco, Texas-based Baylor University.
