Weiss Memorial Hospital drops ‘interim’ from CEO Karima Bentounsi’s title: 5 things to know

Weiss Memorial Hospital, based in Chicago, tapped Karima Bentounsi to serve as its permanent CEO.

Here are five things to know:

1. Ms. Bentounsi has served as interim CEO since January 2017.

2. Prior to that, she was COO of the hospital.

3. She also helped develop Weiss’ gender confirmation program, one of only five in the United States.

4. Before joining Weiss in 2012, she was the senior director of operations at the Chicago-based Cook County Health and Hospitals System.

5. Ms. Bentounsi is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
