The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine in Bentonville, Ark. — founded by Walmart heiress Alice Walton — has appointed Jacquelyn Paykel, MD, as assistant dean of whole-health education.
Dr. Paykel is a board-certified OB-GYN and a leader in women’s health, integrative medicine and whole-person healthcare, according to the school. She most recently served as founder and CEO of S.H.E. Medical, where she designed whole-health curricula, and led consulting and coaching initiatives.
Dr. Paykel also has decades of leadership experience at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where she served as women’s health medical director, chief well-being officer and chief of whole-health services across several VA hospitals.
She joined the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine May 4. The school welcomed its first cohort of students, who received waived tuition, in July 2024. The nonprofit, independent medical school says it trains students in whole-person health, humanities, integrative health approaches, research and advanced technologies.
