VUMC’s 1st general counsel, secretary to retire

Michael Regier is retiring as general counsel and secretary of Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., at the end of the academic year.

Mr. Regier was the first to hold the role at VUMC, according to a Feb. 15 news release. He was first appointed as the hospital’s special counsel in February 2016, then assumed his current position when it split from Vanderbilt University in April 2016. 

Douglas Mefford will succeed Mr. Regier July 1. He currently serves as managing counsel in VUMC’s Office of Legal Affairs.
