Virginia Mason Memorial CEO Russ Myers to retire next year

Russ Myers, president and CEO of Virginia Mason Memorial in Yakima, Wash., plans to retire, effective in early 2020, according to a Yakima Herald report.

Mr. Myers took over leadership of the hospital, then known as Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, in January 2014. He joined the hospital in 1989 as a management analyst, prior to which he worked in pharmacy.

While serving as CEO, Mr. Myers oversaw the hospital’s integration with Seattle-based Virginia Mason Health System in 2016. He has served in several roles with the Washington State Hospital Association over the years.

Mr. Myers said her plans to spend more time with his family once he retires and work part time as a consultant on workforce development projects.
