Chad Melton has been appointed president of Tacoma, Wash.-based Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s Puget Sound market.
In the role, Mr. Melton will oversee the organization’s eight hospitals and medical centers and nearly 18,000 team members across the region, according to a June 3 health system news release.
Additionally, Christopher Bredeson was named president of Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, effective June 29. He most recently served as COO and chief strategy officer at Kirkland, Wash.-based EvergreenHealth and was previously president and COO of MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash.
Before the appointment, Mr. Melton served as interim market president while also leading St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, Wash., as hospital president. During that period, VMFH advanced several operational initiatives, including reducing the number of patients who left emergency departments without being seen and launching Washington state’s first combined emergency department and urgent care facility.
