Elwood Bernard “Bernie” Boone III has been appointed president of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., effective June 2.
Mr. Boone has served as president of Sentara Virginia Beach (Va.) General Hospital since 2012, according to an April 29 news release from Hampton Roads, Va.-based Sentara Health.
He brings more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience, during which he has built high-performing teams, advanced services and expanded access to care, the release said.
He succeeds Rita Bunch, who stepped down as president on Sept. 13 to join Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System.
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a 176-bed facility.
