Virginia hospital names 1st chief medical, nursing officers

Riverside Smithfield (Va.) Hospital has appointed its first-ever chief medical officer and inaugural chief nursing officer.

Justin Billings, MD, was named chief medical officer and Michelle Wooten, BSN, RN, chief nursing officer, Riverside Health announced in a July 2 news release.

Dr. Billings joined the health system and currently serves as associate medical director of hospitalist services at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va. Ms. Wooten is currently the CNO at Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg (Va.). 

The two will stay in their current roles until their successors are appointed. 

Riverside Health is based in Newport News, Va. It operates four acute care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, and a network of long-term care facilities and medical group offices.
