Vidant Edgecombe Hospital president to retire: 5 takeaways

Wick Baker, president of Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, N.C., plans to retire later this year, according to a Rocky Mount Telegram report.

1. Mr. Baker has served as president of the hospital for 15 years.

2. During his tenure, he helped establish an inpatient hospitalist program as well as new patient care services, such as inpatient dialysis.

3. He has spent 40-plus years in the healthcare industry.

4. Patrick Heins, president of Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, N.C., will succeed Mr. Baker.

5. Mr. Heins has worked at Greenville, N.C.-based Vidant Health for 21 years and previously served as vice president of patient care services at Vidant Edgecombe.
