Four notes:
1. Dr. Fankhauser succeeds Kim Milstien, who resigned earlier this week. She was asked to step down from the role earlier than her previously announced July 12 resignation date.
2. Dr. Fankhauser most recently served as CMO of Ventura County Health Care Agency, which oversees both the hospitals.
3. He was medical director and CMO of Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital from 2007 to 2013, before leaving to aid in the Ebola crisis in Liberia, where he served as CEO of a hospital.
4. A family medicine physician, he completed his residency at Ventura County Medical Center.
