Dr. Saavedra will serve as dean of the university’s medical school, according to a Jan. 9 article on its news site. Additionally, he will become VCU Health System’s executive vice president for medical affairs.
Dr. Saavedra currently serves as chair of the department of dermatology at the Charlottesville-based University of Virginia, where he is also president and interim CEO of the physician group. His new role at VCU is effective April 15.
