Richmond, Va.-based VCU Medical Center has named Jim Willis as president.
Mr. Willis had served as interim president since February, according to a Sept. 19 health system news release. He brings 35 years of hospital leadership experience to the role.
Before assuming the interim role, he was COO of the medical center beginning in January 2024 and served as interim COO from March 2023 to January 2024.
His tenure as interim president and COO included several operational initiatives, including improved employee engagement scores, weapons screening at 22 entry points and expanded patient access to services.
Mr. Willis joined VCU Health in June 2022 as vice president of professional services.
