Valley Health adds 2 leaders

Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health has expanded its leadership roster by promoting Tonya Smith, PharmD, to COO and Chris Rucker to chief administrative officer.

Dr. Smith, previously senior vice president of Acute Care and president of Winchester Medical Center, will now oversee operations for all six hospitals, ambulatory sites and post-acute services. She originally joined Valley Health in 2007 and returned in 2022 after holding leadership roles at Munson Healthcare. 

Mr. Rucker, formerly chief strategy officer and chief of staff, will manage key administrative areas including human resources, IT, legal, compliance and business development. Mr. Rucker previously led Valley Regional Enterprises, the system’s ambulatory and post-acute subsidiary.
