UVM Medical Center CNO leaves for role at Jefferson Health

Kate FitzPatrick, DNP, RN, chief nursing officer at Burlington-based University of Vermont Medical Center, is leaving for a leadership role at Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health, effective Oct. 1.

Dr. FitzPatrick will becomes system senior nursing vice president for practice and clinical development at Jefferson Health.

She was also associate dean for academic and practice integration at the University of Vermont College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Burlington.

During her tenure as CNO at UVM Medical Center, Dr. FitzPatrick implemented a new nurse clinical advancement and recognition program structure and led the transition to a new patient care building. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has served as a Magnet program appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Peg Gagne, RN, nursing director for medicine, psychiatry and oncology at UVM Medical Center, will become interim CNO.
