US CIO to step down to join Ebola relief efforts

The White House CIO, Steven VanRoekel, is stepping down from his position to assist the administration’s Ebola response efforts, according to Politico.

Mr. VanRoekel will serve as a senior advisor to Rajiv Shah, administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, as well as chief innovation officer of the agency.

Before joining the administration in 2009 as managing director of the Federal Communications Commission, Mr. VanRoekel was a technologist and executive at Microsoft.
