Upson Regional Medical Center names interim CEO: 5 things to know

Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, Ga., has named Mark Hartman interim CEO.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Hartman.

1. Mr. Hartman, who started as interim CEO Nov. 2, will serve in the position until a permanent CEO is hired.

2. As interim CEO, Mr. Hartman will provide day-to-day operational leadership and ensure the success of numerous major projects, including construction of a heart catheterization laboratory, construction of a new medical office building and on-boarding of a new otolaryngologist, board Chairman Bill Hightower said in a news release.

3. He is a principal in Spectrum Health Partners, which specializes in healthcare consulting and interim leadership.

4. He has more than three decades of experience working in and with hospitals and other healthcare companies, most of which was spent in hospital leadership roles of CEO, CFO and regional CFO.

5. Mr. Hartman takes over for David Castleberry, who is resigning for a position in Savannah, Ga. Mr. Castleberry’s last day at Upson will be Nov. 6.
