UPMC taps Dr. Robert Bart to serve as CMIO

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center appointed Robert Bart, MD, its new chief medical information officer of the health services division.

Additionally, Dr. Bart will serve as an associate professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s critical care department and University of Pittsburgh Physicians. Fellowship-trained in pediatric critical care, he will also provide care as an intensivist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Dr. Bart is the former CMIO for the health services department for Los Angeles County. The county includes a population of more than 10 million, and Dr. Bart was responsible for IT at four hospitals as well as 18 multispecialty ambulatory locations. Prior to that, he was CMO for pediatrics and academics at Cerner.

In his new role, Dr. Bart will lead UPMC’s EHR and IT advancement efforts.
