Here are four things to know about Dr. Khouli and his appointment.
1. He joins UP Health System – Marquette from HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, Minn., where he was medical director of care management.
2. Previously, he provided primary care for patients at the Gwinn and Sawyer Medical Centers, now the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Centers, a nonprofit organization that operates Federally Qualified Health Clinics in the Michigan communities of Gwinn, Sawyer and Houghton.
3. Dr. Khouli earned his medical degree at Damascus University Medical School in Damascus, Syria. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Yale School of Management in New Haven, Conn.
4. Outgoing CMO Thomas Noren, MD, will stay with UP Health System on a part-time basis to lead the organization’s population health management efforts, according to the report.
