UnityPoint Health-Dubuque CEO to step down in June

David Brandon, president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Dubuque (Iowa), is resigning, effective June 1. Mr. Brandon will also leave his position as senior vice president of West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health.

Mr. Brandon is moving back to Indiana, " to be closer to his family," according to an emailed statement from UnityPoint Health. He is considering job opportunities both in and outside of healthcare.

Mr. Brandon has served as UnityPoint Health-Dubuque CEO for the last eight years, during which time the hospital launched the Grandview Expansion Project, its largest-ever expansion project that included new emergency, heart care and surgical services departments.

Ted Townsend, current president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids (Iowa), will replace Mr. Brandon on an interim basis. He will serve in a dual role at both hospitals beginning June 1.

Mr. Townsend is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He joined UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids as CEO 16 years ago.
