Ernie Bovio was appointed regional president of UNC Health’s Southeast Coastal market, a newly created role at the Chapel Hill, N.C.-based health system.
Mr. Bovio will begin his new role in late April, providing strategic oversight across the region, including Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, N.C., according to a March 30 news release.
He is rejoining UNC Health after serving as president of Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health’s Coastal Region in southeastern North Carolina. Before that, he served as president of UNC Health Rex in Raleigh, N.C., and led UNC Health’s Triangle East Region.
UNC Health is a 20-hospital system with more than 900 clinics, along with the clinical patient care programs of the UNC School of Medicine.
